My Top 5 Fitness Trackers 2021 For All Budgets
When I moved from DC to Pittsburgh in October I saw my movement literally crash and burn! I went from city, where I was used to easily getting 10k steps or more per day, to suburban life. When I moved I thought I was still getting in about 5k steps per day and after I got my Fitbit I realized I was actually only getting 2k steps per day!
Step trackers can help you visualize how much you should be moving every day. I encourage all my clients to walk 8-10k steps per day because it helps speed up the weight loss process and prevent plateaus.
Thankfully, there are a lot of step trackers out there that fit your needs and budget! If you want all the whistles of an Apple Watch of Fitbit, go with those! However, you don't need anything fancy to see weight loss results when counting steps.
So which tracker should you choose? Here I'm going to outline the best based on needs and budget!
Best All-Around: Fitbit Charge 4
The Fitbit Charge 4 has all the features of a fitness tracker (heart rate zones, sleep tracking metrics, exercise modes, built-in GPS, etc.) as well as smartphone features for Android users. You can also connect it with Spotify so you can control music on-the-go without a phone. ($129)
Best Looking Band: Fitbit Inspire 2
If you're looking for a basic fitness tracker that also looks pretty for every-day wear, the Fitbit Inspire 2 is the way to go. It's also more affordable than the Fitbit Charge 4. You won't get all the bells and whistles of the Charge 4, but you have all the basics you need to keep track of your steps and lead a healthy life. Features include: heart rate, Active Zone Minutes, activity and sleep tracking, and additional features with Premium accounts. And added bonus - you can switch out the band! ($99)
Best Budget: Xiaomi Mi Band 4
For $39, this tracker has a lot to offer! It tracks your daily steps, heart rate, and sleep. It’s also lightweight and waterproof. For more budget options, check out this Instagram post.
Best for Tracker/Smartphone Hybrid: Apple Watch
The most expensive of this list, the Apple Watch is the best tracker and smartphone hybrid (for iPhone users). It doesn't just track daily steps and activity metrics, but it also tracks your trends using the Fitness app and monitors your blood oxygen levels, heart rhythm, and sleep cycles. On top of that it receives notifications from your phone and so much more. ($200-$379)
Best for Outdoors: Garmin Forerunner 235
Don't want to worry about damaging your tracker on outdoor hikes and adventures? The Garmin Forerunner watches are known for being solid, low-frills running watches that do what you need without complicating things. If you want simple and durable, this is such a great pick! It tracks distance, heart rate, steps, calories, and sleep. ($167)
